Worklogs is not the only game in town when it comes to project management for non-technical users. I’ll regroup below the app we took inspiration from, what are their strong feature and where they fell short to manage the work we do.
Twist.com
We love twist.com, we actually didnt’ know they existed when we started working on worlogs but both app are very similar in many ways. Love their tagline: ‘work async, not asap’
- PROS
- May be as good as worklogs 😉
- CONS
- More expensive ;(
Zulip.com
Another app that put a priority on asynchronous work above real-time usage but more oriented to idea communications than task completion.
- PROS
- Trying to bridge the gap between short-lived chat and long term collaborative work but still mainly focused on communications
- CONS
- lacking task orientation and delegation
- OVERALL
- Great open source software for remote work collaboration but falling short to supervise team mates
Slack
The do-it-all app is super basic at heart but then get very complex when you want to get things done.
- PROS
- ease of use and user interface is superb
- CONS
- feels like an alert system where the latest message cancel the previous one
- OVERALL: Good chat app, but you will need to use many other apps to manage teamwork.
Clickup.com
A new take on project management where one action trickle down to many items being updated, sometime for the best, sometime in ways we can’t understand. Better for technical oriented users/
- PROS
- Smart Automations can make the app very productive
- CONS
- Learning curve is steep
- Concept and interaction can be hard to understand
- OVERALL
- If your team can learn how it works this is a great project management app.
